Amarawansa, Weerasinghe come out on top
Two pugilists from MAS Holdings emerged the top boxers in the men’s and women’s categories at the Intermediate Boxing Meet 2016 which concluded at the Royal Arena boxing ring Reid Avenue. MAS Slimline’s U.G.N.K. Amarawansa and H.M.N.H. Weerasinghe of MAS Casualine carried away the best boxers’ prize when they won their bouts with ease while M.P.G. Kumara of Army and G.Y.G.M. Dilshani of Air Force were adjudged the best losers’ in the two categories. Meanwhile pugilists from the Army had four winners which included a walk over in the men’s category and MAS Unichela Panadura had a successful campaign as they produced three winners while SLAR and Police had two winners each.

Wanasinghe (Police) beat S.M.D. Silva (LC); Welterweight 64kg: P.K.S. Ranatunga (Army) beat A.P. Weerakkody (KDU); Welterweight 69kg: W.M.L. Samaratunga (MAS Unichela P’dura) beat T.M.K.
