My favourite tele-program
My favourite teleprogram is Arrow/Flash. It is very exciting. The days we see it is Saturday and Sunday. This is a story of a city which gets saved by two heroes. Arrow and Flash are the heroes in this program. Arrow means the name of the hero. His real name is Oliver Queen.
Flash also means the name of the hero. Flash’s real name is Barry Allen. There are so many characters such as, Fencity, Arrow, Zoom, Pete, George, Iris, Eddie, Eobard Thawne, Cisco, Flash, Harrison Wells, Griggles etc.
Flash can run very fast in a second from England to Australia. He can run on water and land. My favourite hero is Flash. Arrow can aim arrows very quickly and bravely.
Both heroes rescue the city.
First they didn’t know each other.
They were at that time rescuing the city. They found one thief in the doorway. They killed him with their special powers. Then they found each other and became friends and knew about each other’s powers. At last they will work in the same place.

How I spent my vacation
My vacation started on April 8. My parents came to school and took my report card and my test paper file. They were happy to see my marks. My parents were very pleased and said that they will allow me to spend my vacation how I like.
For my vacation I went to my cousin’s house in Ja-Ela. They were very happy to see my family. On April 12, they went to Matara with us to see their parents.
My cousin took me and my sister all around that village. We came home on April 20. The last day of my vacation was April 24. My school started on April 25.
My vacation was a fun and enjoyable vacation.

My mother
God gives people many pleasant gifts. My mother is the most pleasant gift given to me by God. My mother is the best person in my life. She gets up early in the morning and prepares my meals. After that, she makes me ready to go to school. In the evening she helps me in my homework. She also gives me good advice to become a good citizen.
My mother’s name is Dammika Wickramarathna. She is a good housewife. She can cook very well. She likes to read books and sing songs. She does everything in the house. She washes my clothes and irons them. Sometimes she is strict. But she loves me very much. She is very kind and very honest. She never speaks unnecessary things. She speaks very useful things.
She wants to see me be a doctor one day. That is the dream of her life. Actually she is the shadow in my life. I love my ever loving mother forever.

To Madam with Love
On the very first day
At Mother Musaeus
I was lonely and scared,
Shivering like a fish out of water.
Then,
My grandma came and smiled with us.
Hair back with a neat knot,
Wearing a beautiful Kandyan Saree,
She called us, “Mage Puthala,”
though we are girls,
Like my grandma did.
“Grandma is in heaven,
That was your madam principal.”
Mother told me lovingly, then I realized.
For fifty years, that grandma
looked after little girls like us,
Guided us to be real Musaeuettes.
I convey my heartiest congratulations
To you, my dear madam.
I wrote this poem because I love you,
like the way I loved my grandma.

who dedicated 50 years of service to Musaeus College)

Snakes
Snakes are reptiles and some of the deadliest animals in the world. Snakes live on land, water and in trees. Snakes eat small animals such as rodents, birds and even smaller snakes. Venomous snakes have long teeth called fangs. These fangs contain poisonous venom that could kill a man in minutes. Snakes have a forked tongue which they use to smell prey.
There are more than 500 species of snakes. Anaconda, King Cobra, Sea snakes, Paradise flying snake, Adder, Rock Python, Vine snake, Boomslang, Garter, Rattlesnake are some of them.
The Anaconda is the largest snake in the world. It doesn’t use venom instead it squeezes its prey. It usually hunts on smaller animals but it may hunt on bigger prey like crocodiles.
The King Cobra is the largest venomous snake. King Cobra rarely attacks people. They are the only snakes that build nests. If they are threatened, they rear up their neck into a hood. There are about
10 kinds of cobras. The spitting cobra spits venom into its enemy’s eyes.
Boomslangs live in savannahs. The biggest Boomslang is almost 2m long. The male appears in various colours while the female is brown.

The alien
I saw an alien in the town,
He was buying candy from the market stalls I guess it’s for his little ones.
His body was pale pink
And he moved with tiny green feet,
He had a long nose like a trumpet,
With four antennas on his head.
He bought some lollipops and went outside
And got into his spaceship
Which looked like a giant pizza
And went to the skies!

The most fascinating thing in the sky
The most fascinating and favourite thing I like in sky is the stars. The stars shine white at night. Stars have beautiful shapes. They shine in the sky.
There are many other types of things in the sky like the Sun, Moon and clouds. The stars disappear when it rains. The Sun is the closest star to the Earth. Every star we see in the night sky is actually bigger and brighter. No one knows how many stars there are in the sky. Some stars are very big and some are small. Stars are not close to one another.
I like to look at the stars at night.

A book launch
I was privileged enough to be invited to a book launch organized by the Funday Times as a member of the club. It was a book called ‘Wild in the Backyard’ by Arefa Tehsin. It was on May 28, 2016 at the Sri Lanka Press Institute auditorium in Colombo 5.
My brother and sister were also invited and they accompanied me.
We were all excited to see the authoress walk in. She was a very pleasant lady. She explained to us how she came up with the ideas for the of the book. It was a very interesting session as we even heard about animals we never knew existed.
At the end of the session, we all got a personalized autographed copy of the book and a refreshment pack to go.
Thank you aunties at Funday Times for making it possible for us to have a new experience like this.
