Forty eight teams qualify from Matale and Anuradhapura Districts
The qualifying tournament of the 25th All Island Milo Schools Netball Championship is in progress around the island and is being conducted in 15 centres. The centers where the qualifying tournaments are being held are Ampara, Kandy, Matale, Anuradhapura, Kurunegala, Jaffna, Kalutara, Homagama, Ratnapura, Puttalam, Galle, Badulla, Matara, Gampaha and Colombo. Two qualifying tournaments have been completed. They were in Matale and Anuradhapura districts. The Matale qualifying tournament was held at the Sri Sangamitta BV grounds and the Anuradhapura tournament was held at Eppawala Siddartha MV grounds.
Twenty four teams qualified in the Matale district which comprised of four teams each in the Under 14, 16 and 18 age categories from the Division A and B respectively and three teams in the Under 18 Division B. Twenty teams qualified in the Anuradhapura district with four each from the Division A U14, 16 ‘A’ and ‘B’ and 18 and two each from the Under 14 and Under 18 Division ‘B’. The Schools Netball Championship conducted by the Sri Lanka Schools Netball Association and sponsored by Nestle Lanka Ltd will see over 400 teams being selected for the finals in the four age groups after the completion of the qualifying tournaments. After the completion of the qualifying tournaments the finals of the championship will be held over three days on July 30, 31 and August 1 at the Uyanwatta Stadium in Matara.
