Marikkar resigns from Kandy Club
View(s):The Secretary of Kandy Club, Hafiz Marikkar has resigned from his position after the club continued its sluggish conduct in managing affairs. According to sources the Kandy Club was due to hold its Annual General Meeting earlier this month but was postponed thrice after the Treasurer could not submit account reports on time. Marikkar, a figure known to be a keen sports lover and promoter, is a well respected member at many reputed clubs and associations. At the Kandy Club he has been a member for 30 years and was a committee member for 18 years. The club also has failed to think about its members and has overlooked in upgrading facilities for their benefit, which is one of the main reasons for Marikkar to step down according to sources. Kandy Club was known to be one of the key clubs in the local billiards and snooker competitions.
