Major Lazer floods the charts with ‘Cold Water’

‘Cold Water’ finally brought about change to the top of the UK singles chart as Major Lazer flooded out Drake’s ‘One Dance’. Thus the 15 consecutive week reign on the UK singles chart by ‘One Dance’ has ended. For Bryan Adams it must have been a sigh of relief as his record of 16 consecutive weeks holds. Major Lazer the electronic band has vocal support on ‘Cold Water’ from Justin Bieber and MØ. The song is the lead single from Major Lazer’s next album ‘Music Is The Weapon’. The new song was released on July 26 and then stormed straight to the No:1 as it sold 102,000 in a combination of formats. The track had 4.5 million streams. Danish singer MØ was the featured vocalist with DJ Snake on a previous Major Lazer hit ‘Lean On’ which peaked at No: 2 in 2015. ‘Cold Water’ is a mid tempo track which combines Euro club and dancehall genre. Major Lazer comprises Diplo, Walshy Fire and Jillionaire.The Rolling Stones who became the first rock n roll band to play in concert in Cuba this year is to have that ground breaking event released on widescreen. “Havana Moon” – The Rolling Stones live in Cuba will be premiered in cinemas across the world for a single day on 23rd September. Their historic free concert was held in Havana on 25th March this year, which was filmed by Paul Dugdale, the award winning director.
The family of Prince have announced a tribute concert will be held for the later musician on October 13 in his hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota in the US. The concert is being recognised as the official tribute to Prince who died following an accidental overdose of prescription drugs in March. The artists will be named shortly while tickets for the event schedule to be held at the US Bank stadium will go on sale very soon.
Meanwhile 29 people who claimed to be heirs to Prince have had their hopes dashed following a ruling by a Minnesota judge. Judge Kevin Eide of Carver County has cut down the heirs to six and ordered among Prince’s siblings, half siblings, niece and grand niece to take a DNA test. Many are jostling to take control of the late musician’s fortune which is estimated to be $500 million.
Pop star Ellie Goulding gave her first live performance on July 31, after she was diagnosed with insomnia according reports from the UK. Goulding performed at the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago last Sunday. Earlier she cancelled several appearances in Finland and Latvia last month. She had resting in St. Tropez under medical supervision. The 29 year old had been losing out on sleep while travelling through different time zones as part of her Delirium World Tour.
Louis Tomlinson of One Direction and his former mentor Simon Cowell have join forces to form an all girl answer to One Direction. Reports indicate the duo have formed the group and are now working to launch them shortly.
