Lanka Cavaliers Veterans Over-45 Cricket Sixes today
View(s):The most significant items of the 4th edition of the Lanka Cavaliers Veterans Over-45 Cricket Sixes 2016 will be that a team from Jaffna will be present for the first time today at De Soysa Stadium in Moratuwa commencing at 8.30 am. The veterans of Jaffna will yield the willow to show cricket is for building up friendship and unity. The 12 participating teams were pooled into four groups, initially to play a round robin and then the four group leaders will advance to the knockout semi-finals.
The four special awards on offer will be for the best batsman, best bowler, best fielder and the most senior player. The clothing sponsor is Stafford Motor Company. Old Cambrian, Gamini Silva, who is in the island on holiday from Bangladesh will be the Chief Guest while Old Sebastianite, Roger Wijesuriya will be the Guest of Honour.
Present at the inauguration ceremony were Upali Warnapura (President), Basil Perera (Chairman Organizing Committee), Pemlal Fernando (General Secretary), Daya Sirisena (Treasurer) and T.H. Wijewardena (Chairman Technical Committee) – all from Lanka Cavaliers. The Lanka Cavaliers came into existence in 1997 and they diligently continue with their cricketing mission; Peace, Service, Goodwill. – LR

Group ‘A’: Colombo Colts, Old Palians, the Association of Cricket Umpires (ACU)
Group ‘B’: Association of Professional Cricket Umpires (APCU), Mercantile Cricket Association (MCA), Jaffna
Group ‘C’: HNB, SL Police, Old Sebastianites
Group ‘D’: SL Army ,Olcott Schools, Old Thurstanites
