Renown crash to their first defeat
View(s):Renown lost their first match 1-2 to Sri Lanka Navy in the ongoing Dialog Champions League football tournament at the Navy grounds, Welisara yesterday. At the City Football League Complex Java Lane pulled off a 2-0 win over Air Force. This was Java Lane’s first win seven games, achieving the victory in the eighth outing.
Navy led 1-0 in the game at Welisara against Sri Lanka Navy with W.U.M.C. Krishantha scoring in the 29th minute and J. Fernando in the 73rd minute. Renown’s goal was netted in by J. Michael in the 55th minute.
Java Lane led 1-0 against Air Force, the final score being 2-0 in favour of Java Lane. The goals were booted in by N.N. Jude in the 24th minute and M.A.M. Nejibdeen in the 82nd minute.
Negombo Youth scored a convincing 8 goals to nil win over Up Country Lions at the Kelaniya Football Complex. In the first half Negombo Youth led 3-0. The goals were booted in by A. Mumuni (3 goals) in the 45+3rd, 51st and 79th minutes. R.D. Suraj scored two goals in the 85th minute and 90+2nd , A.P. Acootiy (2 goals) in the 15th minute, 45+1st and D. Dharmalingam in the 40th minutes.
Matara City FC beat Blue Star 1-0 with the goal being scored in the 14th minute by Moses Frank. The match took place at the Vernon Fernando Stadium, Kalutara.
Saunders beat Police 1-0 at the Police ground, Bambalapitiya with M. Ziad scoring the only goal in the game in the 19th minute.
In the final game played yesterday New Youngs Wennappuwa beat Thihariya Youth 2-0. In the first half New Youngs led 1-0. A. George scored both goals in the 9th and 79th minutes.
TODAY. Two matches will be played today. They are: Sri Lanka Army vs Crystal Palace at the Kelaniya Football Complex. The second game is between Solid SC vs Colombo FC at the Prison Ground.
