Solidarity Guitar Concert for Rohan Silva
View(s):Rohan Silva, one of the few pedal steel guitarists from Sri Lanka, had met with a motor accident recently and is lying at the hospital bed.
The Guitar Association of Sri Lanka is organising a concert ‘Solidarity Guitar Concert’ on the 20th August at Russian Centre, Colombo 7, from 6.00pm onwards to raise funds for his immediate medical requirements.
Some of the leading guitarists in Sri Lankan music scene will perform at this ‘Solidarity Guitar Concert’. Amaranath Ranatunge, Andrew Obesekara, Upula Madushanka, Mohomed Iqbal with Gayathri and many will feature in this concert.
Starting with the bands Cosmic Rays and Deflection Rohan was involved in the music field since early seventies. He has been a recording artiste to late Stanley Peiries, Rohana Weerasinghe and late Clarence. He studied at Thurstan College, Colombo.
Rohan is an ardent supporter of the ‘Guitar Festival’. Unfortunately he was knocked down by a motor bicycle and broke his left arm and leg recently. He needs immediate medical attention.
