All eyes are in Rio, where the Olympics are taking place. Four big shots who have been holding the reigns of the local body for a long spell were once again trying to patch up things with the International body and the local body in Brazil. The problem cropped up many years ago and after four sports bosses still the problem exists. In all probability this problem will not be solved in Rio and neither will it be solved at the Moscow Olympics four years hence.
NAME THEM
The white flags which were fluttering at a major sports body seems to sagging now. Recently a former boss of this sport visited Galle, where the local team registered a convincing win. This former boss, who is often referred to as ‘Hitler’ visited the sportsmen even at their dressing rooms and said that these players were first created when he was the boss. The present boss, however, did not agree, and asked the former boss to name the players he had created.
SKIPPING CELEBRATIONS
The talk is still ripe on the two fabulous victories that our sportsmen obtained against the team from ‘Down Under’. Of course there were several parties hosted by the parent body to celebrate the victories. A notable absentee at these functions was the former boss of the sport who had decided to skip the celebrations.
NAME THE BABY
A football club in the outstations, which is very keen to enter the sporting scene, had registered the names of the players with the league concerned. But sad to say they had not given a name to the club! Observers say that this is a clear case of giving a name to the baby before it is born!
WAS THE FLOOR CROOKED?
A local sharp shooter at the Rio Games crashed out of the Olympics in the first round itself. The coach of this lad had said that the kit that this shooter was provided, was not up to standards and that is why he had performed so poorly. Could this be a case of saying that that he could not dance because the floor was crooked?
