Mother, infant knocked down while crossing road
View(s):A woman and her 11 month-old daughter died after being hit by a bus on the Kandy – Colombo Road, at Nittambuwa, the coroner’s court was told yesterday.
The mother had just stepped out from a wayside boutique and was trying to cross the road when the tragedy occurred.
Her husband, Wagaarachchige Daminda, said they had come from Kegalle and he had remained in in the bus that was parked on the opposite side of the road with two of their other children while his wife had got down with the infant to buy something. She was attempting to cross the road to board the bus when she and the infant were knocked down.
