‘An Evening of Music with Adèle & Friends’ to be held at the ‘Eddy stone Ballroom’ of Jetwing Lighthouse on the 10th of September 2016, which is the brainchild of Adele Beling-Bibile’s husband, Lohan.

Lohan and Adele moved to the city of Galle in 2005 in order to help with the rebuilding effort in the post-tsunami period, which meant that Adele had to give up her singing career in Colombo.  As time went by, Adele, a Diploma holder in singing from Trinity College London, began to teach singing in Galle and worked with the choirs of the leading schools in Galle such as Southlands College, Sacred Heart Convent, Sangamitta College and Richmond College, while also conducting singing classes of her own.

Her husband Lohan had always encouraged her to host a concert to showcase western music to an audience in Galle and this concert is the result of that vision. While Colombo is saturated with a host of musical events of this nature, the city of Galle does not get to witness the broad array of western music often.

The purpose of this event is to expose different genres of Western music to an audience that is bereft of it and to inspire many young people to not let go of their creative talents and instead to see the vast opportunities available in music.

Adele has called upon long standing friends who have played or sung with her in the past and they have all embraced this opportunity to showcase western music in its various forms. Rohan and Ishan De Lanerolle, famously known as the ‘De Lanerolle Brothers’ and  Adele’s sister-in-law Melanie Bibile, a soloist for the Maryanne singers will perform as guest artistes at the event.

Adele will also be backed up by a special set of musicians. Niranjan de Silva, a very well known producer, organist and music director will be on keyboards, Joshua Asokan will play piano, his final performance before he flies to England to pursue a music degree at Oxford University. Ranjan Josiah who played with the band Flame will play bass guitar, lead guitarist Kamala Perera’s gifted son Shamil will play acoustic and electric guitars and talented percussionist Shanil Wickramaratne will be on the drums. The band will also be joined by Symphony Orchestra trumpeter Naveen Fernando and to cap off this talented band of musicians, the multi-talented Sureka Ameresinghe will play flute.

The music will cover a wide base of genres, ranging from Jazz, contemporary, broadway, movie soundtracks and classical.

Jetwing Lighthouse is hosting this event at the Eddy stone Ballroom as a co-sponsor of this event and Yamaha Music Centre; the other co-sponsor will showcase a variety of their premium audio and musical equipment that will be played by the band. Siedles (Pvt) Ltd is sponsoring the front of house (FOH) system by providing their acclaimed BOSE F1 sound system.

From its very inception, Lohan and Adele envisioned this event to be an evening of inspiration and in keeping with their vision, all profits from this event will be donated to the Sambodhi Special Needs School in Galle.

Tickets priced at 2000/-, 1500/- and 1000/- available in Colombo at Yamaha Music Centre and in Galle at Jetwing Lighthouse
