Fazil, Shamil, Nazeer and Thaha reach semis

The completion of the quarter-finals of the Colombo District snooker tournament played in the evening session at the BASAL headquarters billiards table in Colombo saw M. Fazil (8 Ball Pool), M. Shamil (MICH), M.R. Nazeer (POP) and M. Thaha (MICH) winning their matches to qualify to the semi-finals.
Earlier in the day in the pre-quarter finals that were played in the morning and afternoon sessions saw Fazil beat M.S.M. Farhan (YMCA), Shamil overcoming M.F.M. Fahim (MICH while Nazeer and Thaha got the better of A.D.R. Alwis (AAC) and S.J.M. Samarakoon (Army) respectively.
The two semi-finals which will be played over frames will be worked off from 10.00 onwards today and the schedule is M. Shamil vs M. Fazil and M.R. Nazeer vs M. Thaha.
The final which will also be played over five frames is slotted to be worked off from 2.00 p.m. The All Island Lanka Plate snooker championship which is the last stage of the qualifying tournament for the forthcoming national snooker championship is scheduled to begin on September 6 at the same venue.
