LC old girls have fun evening of spelling and charades
View(s):SPELLCASTERS, the spelling bee, organised by the Ladies’ College OGA, with President, OGA, Preethi Adhihetty and her enthusiastic team was held recently at the college hall. The evening that was a mix of spelling,charades and fun ended with music and food.
The four- five member teams – Sprelicons, Brain Teasers, Fire Brands, Drama Queens, Tequila Mockingbirds, Artful Spelerz, Spel-Icons, Spellbound, Live Emberz, Queen Bees,Flower Power and Wise Crackers were all dressed to suit their team names. Ashok Ferrey conducting the event was at his humorous best, thoroughly enjoying being surrounded by the ladies! He announced a word chosen by the judges, and the teams one at a time had to spell it out. They were able to cast a lifeline at anyone of their choice in the audience or get one of their team to try again if they missed it at the first try. There were prizes for everyone who took part,including those from the audience.
Among the competitors were Nirmalie Wickremesinghe, former Principal of Ladies’ College, Anila Dias Bandaranaike, and others ranging from ages 21 to 83 while Ladies’ College Principal, Eesha Speldewinde and Vice Principal Deepika Dassanayake were also present.The winning team was the Tequila Mocking Birds and the runners-up were the Queen Bees. The judge was Dr. Harshana Rambukwella.
