Action from yesterday's semi-final clash
Moratu MV advanced to the final of the Shield trophy of the Under-18 Milo All-Island Schools Rugby Tournament when they recorded a close 17 points to 14 win over Richmond in the semi-final encounter played at the Ananda rugby ground in Rajagiriya. Moratu MV having held on to a slender 5-0 lead breather accumulated their points through a goal and two tries to the two goals scored by Richmond.
For the winners P.A. Niranjan scored two tries with Sithum Kavinda going over for the other try while Niranjan booted over the conversion. H.D. Tharuka and Heshan de Silva scored the tries for Richmond and Heshan also put over the two conversions. In the other semi-final between Carey and Maliyadeva which was due to be played in the morning did not take place as Maliyadeva did not turn up and Carey in the process received a walkover. - MSA
