Saman Kumara Gunewardena Athletics Selection Chairman
View(s):Saman Kumara Gunewardena, has been named as the Chairman of the Athletics Selection Committee. This has been approved by the Sports Minister Dayasiri Jayasekera. Saman Kumara Gunewardena has been in operation as the Athletics Statistics Recorder since 1992. Currently he is the Director of Sports Kelaniya University. Four other members have been named into the Athletics Selection Committee. Former Marathon Sri Lanka record holder (1967-1991) R.A. Wimalasena Perera, South Asian Gold medalist in High Jump (1991) Patrick Saparamadu, former 1500 metres Sri Lanka Record Holder Udeni Kanchanamala and Retd. Assistant Physical Education Director D.A. Dayaratne are the other members of the Athletics Selection Committee. – SP
