The Music Project hits the road
View(s):The Music Project’s new venture – “The Unite Roadshow 2016” saw a group of 140 – students, parents and teachers all set off to Katunayake.
On Thursday, August 25, 40 children of the Music Project’s orchestra performed at the Bandaranaike International Airport. For most of the children and teachers this was their first visit to the airport. Niroshan Ranawake of SriLankanCares worked closely with the Aviation Department to get the necessary approvals.
On the second day of the Roadshow, the Orchestra performed at the Kandy City Centre Kandy from 4 – 8 pm. to celebrate the opening of the new food court.
The Music Project is now in its fifth year working with the same group of children from the north and south with whom the project commenced in 2011. The roadshow was an idea of founder trustee Shalini Wickra-masuriya who wanted to give the Music Project Orchestra’s children – better exposure, performance opportunities and to spread the word about what this project is all about.
