Royal, Mahamaya, St. Sylvester’s and Dharmapala MV Carrom champs
Royal College Colombo, Mahamaya Balika Nugegoda, St. Sylvester’s Kandy and Dharmapala MV Pannipitiya bagged the Under-15 and Under-19 boys and girls carrom championships at the All Island School Games. The competitions were held at the OR’s Hill Vivekananda College, Trincomalee and was conducted by the Ministry of Education. Royal College emerged champions in the under 15 boys competition while Prince of Wales were the runners-up. The third place was annexed by Sri Gnanodaya MMV Warakapola. In the girls event Mahamaya Balika Nugegoda grabbed the champion’s slot while Samudra Devi Balika Nugegoda were the runners-up. Third place was snapped up by Visakha Vidyalaya Colombo.
In the Under-19 boys contest St. Sylvester’s College Kandy were the champions while Prince of Wales Moratuwa were the runners-up. The third place went to St. John’s College Nugegoda. In the girls event Dharmapala MV were the champions while Mahamaya Balika Nugegoda were runners-up. Samudra Devi Balika Vidyalaya was third. N. Kulasuriya of St. Sylvester’s College Kandy and Lakshani Vidanagama of Dharmapala MV Pannipitiya were adjudged the Most Outstanding Players in the tournament. - SP
