A pioneer in  the travel and leisure industry, Classic Travel partnered with showbiz veteran Imran Saibo of Funtime, to launch Classic Funtime at a glittering event held at the Hilton Colombo ballroom last month. With music  and video presentations, it was an entertaining event as would be expected from the partners.

Classic Funtime is the  brainchild of Classic Travel Managing Director Saif Yusoof who recognised the opportunity of combining travel and leisure with the event management options that Funtime provides.

Officials from both companies agreed that the reason for such a collaboration is because Sri Lanka is becoming a hotspot among foreign corporates looking to  organise their international conferences and leisure meetings, also the growing popularity of Sri Lanka as a spot for destination weddings.

“The potential of such an alliance is obvious as the country is becoming a venue for a number of meetings, conferences and exhibitions of foreign companies. The collaboration of Classic Travel, which has a strong corporate travel base and Funtime with its creative talents in the field of event management means that we are offering a complete package facilities,” said Mr Yusoof.

Part of Expolanka Holdings PLC, Classic Travel is the only agency in Sri Lanka to be open 24 hours and 365 days a year to offer visa services to any country in the world, according to the company.

At the heart of Funtime is Imran Saibo, one of the pioneers in the event management sector. An economics graduate with a career in banking, he left to set up Funtime after a short stint in advertising. Funtime has introduced technological trends in events ranging from video mapping, a technology used to mimic real environment during conferences, to organising conferences comparable to global events in terms of concept and management.

Talking about their new partnership with Classic Travel, Mr. Saibo said, “As a team we identified the chances of offering a complete ‘one-stop shop’ for destination weddings and corporate entertainment and conferences.”
