The two time Grammy Award winning and Rolling Stone ‘Band of the year’- ‘Arrested Development’ will come alive in Sri Lanka on 22nd October at CR & FC grounds.

Arrested Development is an American alternative hip hop group that formed in Atlanta in 1988. The band hit the peak in the 1990s and produced a brand of music that was a far cry from the ‘Gangsta rap’ to ‘Mr. Wendal’, will take music fans into the 90s and party all night long on Saturday, 22nd.

AD has ground-breaking artistes shaping the 90s hip-hop culture and industry in America. AD is a legendary band that produced a brand of music that paved the way for more contemporary acts like the Fugees and the Black Eyed Peas. Giving us chart topping hits like ‘Mr. Wendal’, ‘Tennessee’, ‘People Everyday’, ‘Ease my mind’ and so many others, the group is very much a household name all around the world.

Giving all their music fans  chart topping hits like “Mr. Wendal”, “Tennessee”, “People Every day”, “Ease my mind” and so many others, the group is still very much a household name all around the world. Arrested Development became the first ever hip-hop band to receive the ‘best new artiste’ Grammy in 1993. That year, they won two Grammy Awards including the above mentioned Best New Artiste as well as Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group, and were also named ‘Band of the Year’ by Rolling Stone magazine.

More than 20 years on, they are still releasing albums and touring the world, spreading their unique blend of sound.

By exposing the harsh realities of everyday folk, AD held a mirror to society’s ignorance and poor treatment of their fellow human beings making their music resonate with contemporary audiences across the globe. In fact, they are reportedly the first African-American group to donate to the ANC in its fight against apartheid and thereafter shared the stage with Nelson Mandela in 1994. After a brief pause the bands returned in the year 2000 with riveting, pulsating beats and have travelled across several nations spreading their music of hope, joy and compassion.

The Band was in action at the Delicious Festival at Midrand, South Africa on Saturday, 8th October. They will be in action at the unset Music Festival in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates on 21st October, just before they come alive in Colombo.

The Band will be performing at the Thunder Valley Casino Resort in Lincoln, California, USA on 28th October after a short vacation in Hawaii soon after the Colombo Concert.

Tickets will be out soon. Gold tickets are priced at Rs. 3,000 and Platinum at Rs. 5,000
