Top post for RADA suspect
View(s):The Cabinet of Ministers has decided to appoint Saliya Wickremesuriya as Director General of the Petroleum Resources Development Secretariat on a contract basis.
The decision came after a lengthy discussion by ministers. They decided to ask the Petroleum Resources Ministry Secretary to report back to the Cabinet on the status of the judicial proceedings against Mr. Wickremesuriya. He is one of the suspects in the RADA case where indictments have been prepared by the Attorney General.
The Secretary has also been asked to consult the Attorney General taking “into consideration matters referred to in the Establishment’s Code.”
The move to appoint Mr. Wickremesuriya comes on a recommendation by Petroleum Resources Minister Chandima Weerakkody.
