Magical evening in aid of SLACESA
View(s):The Sri Lanka Magic Circle presents “Maya Sandawa” in aid of the Sri Lanka Army Corps of the Engineer Services Association (SLACESA) on October 16 at at 3 p.m at the Youth Council, Maharagama.
The Sri Lanka Magic Circle (SMC) was established in 1922 by Gate Mudliyar A.C.G.S. Amarasekera who was its first President. Gate Mudliyar Amarasekera was a skilled magician and a world renowned artist.
The SMC has come forward to support raising funds for a very important project of the Sri Lanka Army Corps of Engineer Services Association (SLACESA).
The funds will go to support the families of all deceased members of the Association who have served in the Regiment. The main objective of the SLACESA is to oversee the welfare and to support the needs of the Ex – Servicemen of the Sri Lanka Army Corps of Engineers Regiment.
The Association currently runs a Vocational Traning Centre in Kandalanda, for the benefit of the servicemen who are nearing their retirement after 22 years of dedicated service and are still young and capable enough to engage in an another occupation.
The courses at the training centre include Masonry, Carpentry, Aluminium Fabrication, Welding and Electrical Wiring etc. It is carried out by the Government Vocational Training Authority and the Centre is located in a property owned by the Army allocated to the SLACESA by former Commander of the Army, General Srilal Weerasuriya.
Tickets for the magic show are available at the gate from the morning of October 18.
