Bollywood splash for Lavinia

Actress Karisma Kapoor added a touch of Bollywood glamour to the Mount Lavinia Hotel’s grand launch of a seductive fragrance “Lavinia” – inspired by the legend entwined with the hotel’s history – British Governor Thomas Maitland’s clandestine romance with dancer Lovina Aponsuwa. Maitland named his mansion, now the hotel after his lady love.
The launch event was hosted at the pool side terrace which was transformed to create a feeling of vintage romance and beauty by the event planners. Karishma Kapoor’s entry to the main stage was greeted with a burst of fireworks. “I am so happy to be in Sri Lanka and overwhelmed by the love given by the country,” she said.
The perfume created exclusively for the Mount Lavinia Hotel by Slovenian perfumier Eva Petric has floral accents with sensual jasmine notes. “The addictive fragrance opens with a vibrant splash of bergamot, juicy mandarin and orange. At its core, white jasmines have been accented with petit grain, tonka beans and a dash of pepper drizzled in the tangy sweetness of mandarin for a mouthwatering signature; while yellow musk and viola combine to leave a lush, lasting impression”, a press release from the Hotel said.
The perfume is currently available only at the Mount Lavinia Hotel but will soon be introduced to the local retail market.
