Musical journey that will leave you with the true spirit of Christmas
View(s):This November, the choir of the Cathedral of Christ the Living Saviour ushers in the season with “Journey of Promises”. The choir directed by Ishan de Lanerolle hope to share with their audiences their version of the celebration of Christmas with song and narrative. “It is a winding road that stretches from darkness to light and from despair to hope” explains Ishan. The idea behind the programme is to take their audience on a spiritual journey which “began in the hearts of devout prophets and culminates in the glorious celebration of Christmas,” he says.
The cantata will hear many traditional Christmas favourites such as “Hark the Herald”, “Once in Royal David’s City” and “Unto Us is Born a Son”. The 30 member choir will perform in six to eight part harmony set to heavily orchestral tracks which Ishan has got down from the USA. With narrations by well-known comperes Savithri Rodrigo and Ashok Ferrey, Ishan hopes that the evening will leave the audience with the true spirit of the promise of Christmas.
The programme is on November 19 at 6.30 p.m. The programme is in aid of the Cathedral Outreach Fund and will take place at the Cathedral located on Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 7 next to the BMICH.
Entrance is by programme, priced at Rs. 600 – programmes are available at the Park Street Mews Restaurant and Commons Coffee House.
