Host BRC along with SSC, Moors SC and Colts advanced to the semi-finals of the BRC six-a-side cricket tournament after the completion of the pre-quarter and quarter-final matches that were played at the BRC and Colts ground yesterday.
From the matches that were played in the morning and evening sessions saw SSC having the honour of posting the highest score of the tournament of 102 which they achieved in the quarter-final match against Chilaw Marians played at the Colts ground.
The BRC Six- a-Side tournament revived after a lapse of two decades saw the participation of 16 teams comprising of 14 teams in the Premier league tournament and the two top teams of the Emerging Trophy tournament of last year.
The semi-finals are scheduled to be played from 9.00 a.m. onwards at the BRC ground and the final is slotted to be played in the afternoon. The champion team apart from the trophy will carry away a cash award of Rs. One million and the runner up will receive a cash award of Rs. 250,000.
