‘Burning Birds’ take wings to Tokyo
View(s):‘Burning Birds’had its world premiered at 21st Busan International Film Festival in South Korea last October, where the film was nominated for the Best Film and won many critical acclaims. Second film of Sanjeewa followed by his controversial debut‘Flying Fish’ ( IgillenaMaluwo), the film is a co-production between Sri Lanka, France, The Netherlands and Doha Qatar.
SanjeewaPushpakumara has also been invited by Tokyo Talent Campus to deliver a special lecture on filmmaking to future Asian filmmakers, who are currently following a filmmaking workshop at the Campus. The Tokyo Talent Campus is an institution run by the Tokyo FILMeX International Film Festival.
Burning Birds film project selected to 2012- 2013, 25th Cinéfondation Residence Programme of Cannes Film Festival in Paris. Followed by the script was selected to the Jerusalem International Film Lab in 2014 for advanced script development. During seven month period Sanjeewa developed the script at the Film Lab in Israel. There Sanjeewa got the opportunity to work with one of world’s renowned script advisers Mr. Jacques Akchoti (France).

Mahendra Perera , Samanalee Fonseka, Anoma Janadari , Chandani Senavirathne ,Leonie Kotalawala, Pubudu Chathuranga, Priyanka Samaraweera, Dasun Pathirana, Tissa Bandaranayaka, Shyam Fernando, Dharshan Dharmaraj , Sanjeewa Dissanayake, Dharmapriya Dias play main roles in Burning Birds.
Kalinga Deshapriyais the cinematographer, Ajith Ramanayake and Katharina Wartena editors, Priyantha Dissanayaka make up, Piyathissa Akurambada art director, AjanthaAlahakoon costume designer, Nicolas D’halluin and Aruna Priyantha Kaluarchchi sound engineers, color grading – Elie Akoka, assistant director – Aruna Thilakarathne, second assistant director – Niroshan Edirimanna and production manager- Harald Karunathilaka contributed to the film.
