Dead youth in MPs house: Govt. Analyst’s report yet to come
View(s):Authorities are still awaiting the report from the Government Analyst’s Department regarding a youth who was found dead at the home of MP Wimal Weerawansa.
Dr. Prasanna Dissanayake, Judicial Medical Officer (JMO) of the Colombo South Teaching Hospital, told the Sunday Times yesterday that he had given an open verdict regarding the cause of death and was still waiting for the report of the Government Analyst to determine the cause of death.
Meanwhile, Thalangama Police OIC, C.I. Nishantha denied reports that the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) had taken over investigations into the death. He said the police were also awaiting the Government Analyst’s report.
The youth, Lahiru Janith Dissanayake, reportedly a family friend of the Weerawansas, was found dead inside the house on October 24. Police have already recorded statements from the youth’s relatives and Mr. Weerawansa’s wife Shashi who reportedly found the youth’s body.
