Two huge wins for Thotagamuwa Christ Church, Matale
Led by Manisha Rukshan and coached by A.S Thotagamuwa Christ Church College Matale advanced to the second round of the SLSCA Singer trophy U/13 division 3 schools cricket tournament 2016, when they ended the preliminary round stage with two wins and two no decisions from the four matches they played.
They recorded a 121 run first innings win over Sri Parakrama MV Rattota and an outright win against Namini Oya MV Laggala with the matches against Hindu college Matale and Sri Naga NS Naula ending in no decisions.
Showing plenty of promise as an allrounder skipper Manisha Rukshan was outstanding with a total of 332 runs which included a century (110) against Hindu College Matale and two impressive half ‘tons’ (82) against Sri Naga NS and ( 66) against Namini Oya MV. He was supported by Januka Nethruwan who also scored two half ‘tons’ 52 & 73 in his tally of 136 runs.
The pick of the bowlers was Sachinthaka Jayasoma who captured 12 wickets with his 7/49 against Rattota Sri Parakrama MV being the best. - LDC
