Mahila Samiti Training Centre conducts diploma course in pre-school teacher training

A one-year diploma course in pre-school teacher training is now being conducted at the Mahila Samiti Training Centre at 168 1/1, New Kandy Road, Malabe. Registered at the Children’s Secretariat of the Ministry of Child Development and Women’s Affairs as a national diploma course under the National Coordinating Committee on Early Childhood Development, the first batch has already passed out and been successful in finding jobs.
The next batch commences in January 2017. The course is conducted in the English and Sinhala medium by experienced lecturers and students receive a certificate approved by the Child Secretariat upon completion.
The Mahila Samiti, inaugurated in 1930 is dedicated to empowering rural women. The promotion of handicrafts and other skills, development of civic responsibility and leadership qualities, nutrition and family health, safe motherhood, child care, day care and early childhood centres are some of the projects the Mahila Samiti is involved in.
