Come to the BSC Christmas Carnival!
View(s):Eye-catching decorations, gifts, reminders and plans, this Christmas season is a busy one for the Parent Teachers’ Association (PTA) of the British School Colombo (BSC) as they make the final preparations for their much awaited annual Christmas extravaganza, the Christmas Carnival.
The Christmas Carnival that will be held at the British School premises on Saturday December 3 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. will have arcade games, 12ELS Cinema, rides, and a food court. “We are getting a water roller for the first time, where four kids can go in together. It will be in the pool area,” said treasurer of the PTA Samudra Nawinne, revealing what is bound to be an exciting attraction for youngsters. The food court will have different vendors offering a wide variety of food. As for entertainment, look out for some items presented by the school students in addition to the music provided by a DJ from KissFM.
“When you go to a carnival you need to eat well and enjoy yourself. The enjoyment, entertainment and the food, the three parts for different ages have been taken care of. Our aim is to look at every aspect of entertainment for everyone. We also look at aspects of safety everywhere; we have parents who have volunteered to help on the day of the carnival to monitor everything at the carnival,” assured PTA President, Shilpa Perera.
The President and Secretary Vindy De Silva agree that the best part of the carnival would be the raffle draw which offers airline tickets to Singapore and Malaysia, hotel stays at Mahaweli Reach, Trinco Blue by Cinnamon and Citrus Waskaduwa Resort, lots of items and hampers all for lucky winners.
“The British School is a diverse community with 53 different nationalities and so, throughout the year we try to bring our families together. The PTA is a key part of how we do that. What we try to do with the carnival is to make it inclusive, that is we want to include as many people as possible. We have things for young children and lots of games for very young children, activities for older children and lots for parents too. There is something for everybody – in a way that is what the carnival is all about. It’s all about providing opportunities for people to join in, have a great time and be a part of our community,” said Principal of BSC, Dr. John Scarth.
All proceeds from the carnival will go to support underprivileged children who are in less fortunate circumstances within Sri Lanka this year as they have done the previous years.
Tickets for the carnival, priced at Rs.200 for adults and Rs.150 for children will be available on or before the day of the carnival at the British School, Colombo.
