Rupavahini leads state TV awards
View(s):Winning 27 awards, Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC) led the recently held 2016 Television State Award Festival, leading TV talent recognition event. The award ceremony was graced by veteran script writer Somaweera Senanayake and veteran actress Iranganie Serasinghe.
Pioneering artiste who once a teledrama and programme producer at Rupavahini, Lucian Bulathsinghala was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement award. There were several former stalwarts at Rupavahini including Somasiri Ilesinghe, head of the music division, Giwantha Arthasad media visual unit head, K. N. Gunawardena head of the engineering unit and T. Skandarajah head of the maintenance unit were felicitated for their contribution to the television industry.
Among the other winners from Rupavahini were Best Actress Himali Sayrangi for her role in ‘Kaviya Oba’, Best teledrama Kithsiri Alexander Coorey’s ‘Sanda Vinivinda’, Best one episode drama ‘Newathumpala’ by Santhusha Liyanage, Best animation award is won by Athula Ransirilal for his ‘Prem and Freddy’.
The awards for the Best new casters were won by Ranjani Rajmohan (Tamil) and Sharon Mascarenhas while the award for Best children’s programme was won for ‘Katha Malla’ produced by Janaka Sujeewa. The award for the Best Tamil talkshow was given to U. L. Yakoob and the award for the Best Feature programmes was won by Suminda Tilakasena for his programme ‘Malima’.
Around 70 artistes who contributed to SLRC productions were nominated for awards.
