‘&Co Pub and Kitchen’ – The Steuart by Citrus recently welcomed the Dollar Academy Band from Scotland for the second consecutive year. The recent performance of the band of young pipers and drummers illuminated the pleasures of Scotland as the band performed signature Scottish tunes, giving the audience a unique chance to experience the true essence of Scotland, right here in Colombo.
Craig Stewart, leader and teacher in charge of the Dollar Academy Band, went on to state that the hotel symbolized Scotland in every way, from the ambiance and architecture, to the food and drinks. Overwhelmed by the hospitality extended to the Band, The Steuart by Citrus was gifted with a token of remembrance and appreciation – an art work of the band – which was accepted by Dilith Jayaweera, Managing Director of Citrus Leisure PLC.
The Dollar Academy is a co-educational day and boarding school in Scotland. The Dollar Academy’s Pipe Band has been a huge part of the Dollar community since the start of the band. In recent years the band has had great success winning the CCF Scottish Schools Competition for eleven years running. The Band is now Scottish, British, European, World Champions and Champion of Champions 2010 and 2014. The band is open to everyone in Dollar Academy with the choice of Piping, Snare, Tenor or Bass drumming.
