Heshan Flexi Packaging’s 372/9 in 40-overs weekend’s highest
Heshan Flexi Packaging made minced meat out of Brumbie’s International bowlers, when they amassed 372/9 in 40-overs (almost 10 runs an over), as they went on to win the match by a huge margin of 257 runs, in the ongoing MCA ‘D’ Division 40 Overs League Tournament 2017, continued last weekend.
Heshan Flexi’s first 5 batsmen, Chalitha Chamod (62), Srinath Jayasekera (63), Rasika Chandana (50), Ruwan Ranasinghe (50) and Gayan Prasanga (83 in 44 balls inclusive of 4 sixes and 8 fours) made merry with the hapless Brumbie’s attack, to be responsible for the huge total.
All in all, Heshan Flexi batsmen hit 16 sixes and 38 fours.
Heshan Flexi’s left arm leg-spinner, Srinath Jayasekera topped it up with a fine spell of 5.2-0-18-5 .
The 2nd team to clear the 300-run mark was Kanrich Finance ‘B’, who hammered Hemas Group to the tune of 316/7 in 40 overs, and went on to win by 206 runs. Osanda Fernando hit a sparkling century (101 in 92 balls inclusive of 2 sixes and 14 fours ), while Akila Dhananjaya ripped into Hemas Group with a ferocious spell of 8-2-21-5 for Kanrich Finance.
The 3rd team to clear the 300-run mark during the weekend was Citizens Development Business (CDB) – 301/9 in 40 overs, riding on century scored by middle-order batsman, Praveen Fernando (100 in 63 balls inclusive of 3 sixes and 14 fours)
A gutsy, undefeated 41 runs in 15 balls, inclusive of 5 sixes and 2 fours, by No. 8 Vinoth Kumar, gave Softlogic Holdings a heart-stopping 1-wicket win over David Pieris Motor Co (DPMC).
DPMC batting first scored a challenging 248/9 in 40 overs, helped by half-centuries from Prasad Niroshan (60) and Indunil Paranamana (62 not out) .
Softlogic 184/6 in 31 overs was propped up by their 7th-wicket pair of Vinoth Kumar and Ashan Udayanga (38)
