Huawei to push market share by 50% this year
In today’s gadget and gizmo-focused society that we have come to know and love, at times it’s almost as mobile phones are too complex to keep up, but it’s a given that digital communication rules our lives—from the hours we spend on Facebook to the number of times we check our phones for text messages, e-mails, twitter – the list drags on.
There hasn’t been a study an how many times Sri Lankan mobile phone users look at their phones a day (it must be a lot), but research says US smartphone users look at their devices over 8 billion times a day (in total). Smartphones are the most personal tech we own. Almost everyone that we come in contact with in the business world is a smartphone junkie with the newest and best mobile gadgets.
This is a big deal for all in the telecom industry including handset device manufacturers that are all crucial cogs of this key setting. In this background, in an era where we spend a significant portion of our day using technology to stay in touch with our friends, families, and co-workers, Huawei, which says it is the market leader in smartphones sales in Sri Lanka, plans to increase its market share by 50 per cent this year.
Since the dawn of the first smartphone, mobile devices have been getting better and manufacturers are kicking into gear and creating some truly exceptional handsets at the moment and Huawei says that next year will be truly new in every sense. Henry Liu, Head Huawei Device in Sri Lanka is optimistic in increasing the company’s market share as they have already shown a 55 per cent growth in handsets for last year.
This may have also been the main reason that Huawei, the fastest growing smartphone brand in Sri Lanka, together with Singer Sri Lanka, launched the all new Huawei GR5 2017 at a ceremonious unveiling at the Singer Lifestyle Festival in Colombo two months ago.
For Huawei, Sri Lanka scores as the highest in market share, Mr. Liu told media at a briefing to celebrate their 4-year partnership with Singer. Adding that Huawei aims to bring technologically-advanced smartphones this year into the country which further epitomises Huawei’s position in introducing quality and convenient smartphone devices that Sri Lanka became the first country in the region to have witnessed and experienced the launch of the GR5 2017. Singer Sri Lanka PLC Group CEO Asoka Pieris told media that with Huawei, his company has an exclusive arrangement.
