‘Miss England’ contest here to promote Sri Lanka
View(s):The Miss England beauty contest is set to become the next event to be held in Sri Lanka together with Miss Premier Ceylon that would feature Sri Lankan contestants as well vying for an international title.
The Miss England pageant’s finalists would arrive in the island in July and tour the island on photo shoots and talent shows including workshops held for the contestants, Miss England Executive Director Angie Beasley (a former Miss England) said at a media conference in Colombo on Thursday. The tour will be for a period of 14 days.
She noted that Sri Lanka had been selected in view of the many facets it has to showcase adding that “we attract so many people with our competition.”
The contestants would be asked to do their homework on Sri Lanka and would also be on the same ramp as the local contestants.
Premier Ceylon Chairman Tissa Jayaweera said that this would afford an opportunity for the Sri Lankan contestants to gain exposure with their English counterparts prior to entering an international pageant.
Plans are afoot to negotiate with Premier Ceylon to bring down the Mr. England pageant’s contestants as well to the country in future, it was announced.
Premier Ceylon is a high end hospitality in Sri Lanka into luxury boutique hotels, spas, dream weddings and events, exclusive caravans, luxury yachts and exotic holidays. -(SD)
