GOSHA – 2017, Beat To Beat, an evening of percussion drums combining both Sri Lankan and African beat rhythms will be held on January 13 at the Bishop’s College Auditorium from 6.30 p.m.

“Drumming was initially my father’s hobby. Listening and seeing him play made me interested in joining him,” says Limini Weerasinghe who is the female star of the ensemble. Limini was only five back then and went on to join the Bishop’s College Hewisi Band which helped hone her talents.

“Dwani-2011” organised by the school’s dancing society gave her the chance to showcase her first Djembe performance on stage. “I was the youngest female Djembe player in Sri Lanka and this was the beginning,” she says.

Beat to Beat will also feature the school’s hewisi band and brass band. Jananath Warakagoda, B & S and Randhir Dinaadaa will also perform.
