CMC community awards
View(s):‘Sports Champs’ Awards ceremony of the Inter Community Centre and Playgrounds sports Festival, organised by the Sports and Recreation Department of the Colombo Municipal Council was held at the Members Room, Town Hall, Colombo recently.
The Minister of Sports Dayasiri Jayasekera distributed awards to the outstanding sportsmen and women of the Community Centres and Playgrounds who excelled in 12 sports disciplines – Wrestling, Table Tennis, Carrom, Basketball, Softball Cricket, Body Building, Physical Sports, Power Lifting, Judo, Volleyball, and Soccer and Netball.
Sports and Recreation Department of the Colombo Municipal Council in an endeavour in spotting talent organise competitions among the community centres and playgrounds in the city to give a helping hand to the outstanding sports stars guiding them to be citizens to bring honour and fame to Sri Lanka.
Municipal Commissioner V.K.A. Anura, Secretary Mrs. H.D.C. Janaki and Director of Sports also graced the occasion. - LR
