A pictorial cry to protect nature
‘Montage on Life ii’ by veteran photographer Mahinda Vithanachchi will be held on January 20, 21 & 22 at the J.D.A. Perera Gallery, Colombo 7. The exhibition will highlight the importance of protecting nature and will portray man and nature.
A photojournalist for 34 years working for leading newspapers in the country Mahinda Vithanachchi is currently a staff photographer for Lake House. He has previously held seven exhibitions, the first in 1981.
His collection of photographs focuses mainly on the national parks in Sri Lanka – Uda walawe, Yala, Bundala, Gal Oya, Kumana. “My main goal through this exhibition is to show everyone the importance of protecting nature for the future generations as we are the ones gradually destroying it,” said Vithanachchi. He added this might be his last exhibition and that he is very grateful to everyone who has supported him throughout his career.
‘Montage on Life ii’ will be opened on January 20 at 2.30 p.m. On January 21 and 22, the exhibition will be open from 10a.m. to 6 p.m. Entrance is free.
