Mithira steers Tissa MMV to the crown
First ever major title for Tissa Central
An unbeaten knock of 109 by Mithira Thenira laid the foundation for Tissa MMV Kalutara to emerge champions of the Under 13 division one cricket tournament at Thurstan ground.
Mithira’s knock helped Tissa MMV to overcome defending champions Prince of Wales on a better run rate after the match ended in a no
decision.
The final saw Tissa MMV taking first lease of the wicket post a score of 217 for 4 thanks to Mithira’s unbeaten ton which was supported by a half ton by Shashmika Weerasekera.
Prince of Wales in their turn was making steady progress going at over four runs an over but they were left with 35 runs to reach 217 runs. In the process they were able to end with a score of 146 for 5 which eventually saw Tissa MMV being declared champions as they secured 6.84 points as against to the 4.12 achieved by Prince of Wales.
