St. Peter’s cruised through to their fourth outright win of the ongoing Under 19 inter-school cricket season with a crushing innings and ten runs win over St. Sebastian’s in their match concluded at Bambalapitiya yesterday.
The foundation for the win for St. Peter’s was laid by their right arm pacies Shivan Perera who ended with impressive figures of 5 for 20 and Santhush Gunatilleke who grabbed four scalps to bundle out St. Sebastian’s for a paltry 79 in their first innings.
Peterites while batting were guided by Lakshina Rodrigo who made a 138 and Shalitha Fernando a 94 helping them to end day one in a strong position of 289 for 6.
The second day’s play saw St. Peter’s who had a lead of 210 runs at the end of day one declaring on their overnight score. They had St. Sebastian’s in a spot of bother at the lunch break with the score on 110 for 3. Then in the post lunch the Peterite spin trio Sachin Silva and Chathura Obeysekera (off spin) and left arm spinner Mohamed Ameen combining to share nine wickets to dismiss the Sebs ten runs short.
