“To reach for your own star, to realize the power of the dream…” a chorus that reverberated through the Lionel Wendt on January 11, giving a powerful start to Ishan De Lanerolle’s show ‘Different Voices’. It was a show like no other with Ishan’s students varying in ages, the youngest being two years old, exhibiting their vocal capabilities as if they were born to perform.
The concert was filled with bold performances executed with utmost professionalism by these young artists. Audience members were on the edge of their seats straining their ears to hear even the slightest hum of voices that they have watched grow and continue to love.

“Respect your audience and have fun with what you do,” Ishan tells his students before they perform, a lesson they take to heart as a gleeful audience in delight and wonder watch Ishan’s students shine as performers.
For the evening choristers and soloists shed their stage fright and let their personality shine through, some waving their hands in the air, a couple playing air guitars, and others flashed the audience with megawatt smiles, rhythmically shaking their heads to the beat of every song.

With a repertoire of complex performances like ‘The sound of Silence’, ‘I will always love’, ‘Someone like you’ under their belt ‘Different Voices’ proved that no task was too big for these little artists.
