Fashion Asia awards: Lankan wins top male model of the year
View(s):The 2016 Fashion Asia awards ceremony took place at the Heji Duidian, in Chongqing from December 26- 30 with Sri Lanka nominated for awards in four categories, namely:
Lou Ching – Asian Top Fashion Stylist of the Year Jayamali Erangika Wijesuriya – Asian Top Fashion Model of the Year (Female) Tymeron Carvalho – Asian Top Fashion Model of the Year (Male) Asian Top Fashionable Singer of the Year – Nadine Samarasinghe
Tymeron Carvalho did Sri Lanka proud when he claimed the award of Asia’s Top Fashion Male Model of the Year, beating nominees from the Philippines, Nepal and Indonesia.
The Fashion Asia awards ceremony itself was a dazzling night with 15 awards presented. Speaking on winning the prestigious award Carvalho said it was “quite a surprise”. “First of all thank you to my National Director Rosita Wickremesinghe, Lou Ching Wong and Fashion Asia. I would like to congratulate all the nominees, if you weren’t on top of your game you wouldn’t be here. Congratulations to all the winners and thank you to all who helped me.”
The Fashion Asia awards is the first platform in the Asian fashion industry, introduced by the World Asia Fashion Media Association for young designers, fashion stylists, photographers and singers to showcase their talent among various nationalities in the Asian region.
Representing Sri Lanka on a special invitation at the Fashion Asia Awards was Sri Lanka’s Ambassador in Beijing Dr. Karunasena Kodithuwakku and Secretary of Tea Promotion at the Embassy Dhanushka Karunaratne.
