Importance of learning French: Alliance Française de Kotte holds news conference

French is one of the languages spoken by more than 220 million people worldwide. It is the second most widely learned foreign language after English and the sixth most widely spoken language in the world.
A press conference held by Alliance Française de Kotte on the importance of learning French and about the diplomas and courses offered by the institute, saw Cultural Counsellor Jean Philippe Gavois, Ambassador of France to Sri Lanka and Maldives Jean Marin Schuh, Vice President of the Alliance Francaise Dr. Sarath Amunugama and director of Alliance Française de Kotte, Francis Cappe, all there to reinforce the message.
“The Alliance Fançaise de Kotte offers quality French language courses in Sri Lanka. It is recognized and supported by the French government and it is the only institute that delivers official French Language diplomas,” said French Ambassador Jean Marin Schuh adding that he is very pleased to see that the French language has a very high demand in Sri Lanka and that he hopes there would be more Sri Lankans interested to learn French.
The Alliance Française de Kotte is currently partnered with University of Kelaniya, Sri Jayawardenapura, Peradeniya, Jaffna and Ruhuna. They have also partnered with American international Campus, Lanka Institute of Fashion Technology Mod’Art and the BCIS ( Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies).
Alliance Française de Kotte offers French classes seven days a week, certificate courses and diploma courses which consists of Junior level diploma for secondary school children studying in French, the diploma, the advanced French diploma and the French knowledge test. They also organize various cultural activities, which include movie screenings, workshops, conferences and exhibitions.
