Exposing human realities through humour
Veteran script writer Somaweera Senanayake who was acclaimed for his welknown teledrama scripts like ‘Palingu Menike’, ‘Yashoirawaya’ and ‘Kande Gedara’ has returned to script writing with ‘Eka Gei Minissu’. The teleplay directed by Jayaprakash Shivagurunathan and produced by Somaratne Gamage is now being telecast at 8.35 pm every weekday on Rupavahini channel.
The story is set in the backdrop of a middle class family and it shows how a mother faces various challenges and how she successfully overcome them and works to promote the family.
The tittle ‘Eka gei Minissu’ could be translated as people living under one roof but in the teledrama this gives a broader interpretation. The people living under roof represent different characters we come across in our society.
The teleplay is a satire and it develops with a number of funny characters and incidents. Yet through these hilarious events the story discusses human nature and their subtle
qualities.
‘Ekagei Minissu’ is played by Iranganie Serasinghe, Malkanthi Jayasinghe, Dayadeva Edirisnghe, Jagath Chamila, Sathischandra Edirisinghe, Uddika Premaratne, Anjula Rajapaksa, Volga Kalpani, Nirosha Thalagala, Anuradha Edirisinghe and Sachiththa Weerasinghe who makes his debut appearance in small screen.
