Lankan Blind Cricketers in handsome win
  Sri Lanka Visually Handicapped cricketers scored a resounding 214 runs victory over New Zealand in their first match of the 4th Cricket World Cup T20 played in Delhi.
A swashbuckling opening stand of 334 runs by Ruwan Wasantha (B2) and Suranga Sampath (B3) was too much for the Kiwi cricketers as they found difficulty to cope the Lankan attack and managed only 120 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
The Sri Lankan opening pair sent the Kiwi bowlers on a leather hunt as they started attacking the bowing from the start. Wasantha’s 170 runs came off 69 deliveries with 25 hits to the ropes while Sampath faced only 53 deliveries to score 146 consisting of 30 boundaries.
Chasing the huge Sri Lankan total none of the New Zealand batsmen except Mercal Maxkeell found run-getting difficult off the on the spot Lankan attack backed up by agile fielding were able to score only 120 for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs . Maxkeell top scored with 30 runs facing 37 deliveries with three fours. Dinesh Maduwantha and Saman Kumara were the most successful bowlers to claim a wicket each giving away 24 and 18 runs respectively.
The joy the Lankans enjoyed on the first day was robbed by Pakistan as they beat Sri Lanka by three wickets with 2.4 overs to spare. Batting first the Lankans scored 164 for 7 in their alloted 20 overs. Sizable contributions were made by Ruwan Wasantha (B2) 20, Suranga Sampath (B3) 20, Chandana Deshapriya (B3) 46, Dimuthu Ravindra (B1) 22. Pakistan reach the target losing 7 wickets in the process in 17.2 overs.
