Vindyaka 146 in just 74 balls
Opening Batsman Dinesh Vindyaka hit a firecracker 146 runs in 74 balls, inclusive of 12 sixes and 10 fours for Dialog Axiata ‘A’ against Bimputh Finance in the ongoing 15th David Pieris Group of Companies sponsored, ‘DPGC’ Challenge Trophy, MCA ‘E’ division 30 over League Tournament 2017, continued last weekend.
Vindyaka’s blitz enabled Dialog ‘A’, batting first to pile up the highest team total of 282 for 7 in 29 overs (RPO 9.72). Bimputh after a disastrous start (76 for 5) got their act together with a fighting 145 runs stand for the sixth wicket between Chamath Chinthaka (101 in 65 balls, inclusive of six sixes and 10 fours) and Bhagya Hettiarachchi (60 not out in 46 balls with five sixes and an equal number of fours), but it was too late for them as they finished with a respectable 220 for 6 in 29 overs, falling short by 62 runs.
The other notable performances came from centurion Muditha Fernando from HNB Grameen (100 not out in 68 balls, inclusive of two sixes a dozen of fours Vs. Emerchemie NB); Shan Nilaksha from Brandix Essentials (96 Vs. Pizza Hut); Roshan Derling from John Keells ‘C’ (88 Vs. Finlays; Ashail Kariyawasam from HSBC ‘A’ (86 Vs. Unilever ) and Supun Bulathsinhala from Virtusa (4.4-0-12-5 Vs.Hilton Colombo).
The lowest team total came from Regnis Lanka, who were shot out for 62 runs in 17.4 overs Vs. AIA Insurance.
