Lokuhetty invited for global meeting on tourism
View(s):Anura Lokuhetty, a veteran in Sri Lanka’s tourism industry, has been invited by the ICC WCF 10th World Chambers Congress to attend its September 19-21 meeting in Sydney, Australia as a speaker in his capacity as chairman of Asian Council of Tourism of CACCI. The theme of the conference is “Tourism: a driver for economic growth”.
This is the 10th edition of the Congress and this year the World Chambers Federation is partnering with the Confederation of Asia Pacific Chambers of Commerce (CACCI) in presenting this event.
Mr. Lokuhetty will join an illustrious lineup of speakers including Sunil Bharti Mittal, Founder and Chairman, Bharti Enterprises; Ouided Bouchamaoui – Joint Winner, 2015 Nobel Peace Prize; Chris Heathcote, CEO, Global Infrastructure Hub; Steve Killelea, Founder and Executive Chairman, Institute for Economics and Peace; Alan Joyce, CEO, Qantas and James Packer, Chairman, CPH; Deputy Chairman, Melco Crown Entertainment.
The organisers say that not only has it become an issue to policy makers, but tourism continues to be one of the world’s largest industries, counting for one in every 10 jobs on the planet, as well as being a key component of many nations’ GDP, developing and developed.
Chambers of commerce have become more engaged in tourism issues recognising not only its links to local economic prosperity, but also its spin-offs for attracting investment and trade.
Mr. Lokuhetty, a former President of the Tourist Hotels Association of Sri Lanka, has served over two decades in many positions in the industry, and continues to do so.
