Alston to rock Oscars ‘After Party’
View(s):The Oscars After Party will be held at the Beverly Hills Hilton immediately after the Academy Awards at the Kodak Theatre. The legendary ‘After Party ‘ known as ‘The Night of a Hundred Stars’ is the most ‘wanted’ ticket in Hollywood with a US$1500/- price tag.
Alston will be performing to the World’s most popular actors, actresses and the international media that will be present at this very exclusive event.
Singer Alston Koch is also a record producer and actor. His band ‘Dark Tan’ recorded three international hits on the RCA label and is credited as one of the originators of Disco music in Australia in 1975.
He has performed internationally with Dark Tan, S-witch, and as a solo artiste. One notable appearance was during ‘The Stars and Stripes Concert’ in 1976, performing under the Sydney harbour bridge on a floating pontoon for Radio 2SM. Rock Brains Of The Universe and music historian Glenn A Baker has said that ‹Alston & Dark Tan› were the originators of Disco Music in Australia. Since 1975 Koch has released 21 singles and 4 albums through record labels such as RCA, BMG, EMI and Sony.
In April 2012 his latest album ‘Don’t Funk With Me’ written and produced by Alston and the Sherifs, debuted at No. 42 on the official ARIA top 50 Albums chart, eventually peaking at No.2. He was also the first Australian recording artiste to launch a single (official release) at an International Cricket final when his song ‘Soul Sounds’ (From the album Don’t Funk with Me) was launched during the Australia Vs Sri Lanka finals in 2014.
His performance at The Night of a Hundred Stars is yet another feather in the cap of this Sri Lankan who strives to promote Sri Lanka in any way he can.
The 89th Academy Awards ceremony, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS),will honour the best films of 2016 and will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California on February 26. During the ceremony, AMPAS will present Academy Awards (commonly referred to as Oscars) in 24 categories.
In related events, on February 11, in a ceremony at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, the Academy Scientific and Technical Awards were presented by hosts John Cho and Leslie Mann and the 8th Annual Governors Awards ceremony was held in November last year.
