A courageous tale of a mother

Directed by Ajith Prasanna Jayawardana, the teleplay unravels the courageous story of a woman whose husband is killed by an elephant.
He ekes out a living by fishing in the village tank and chena cultivation. After his death she faces many challenges bringing up her children on her own but is determined to provide them a good education. She rejects the advances of a rich mill owner in the village who offers to help but with an ulterior motive. Her brother who is a high ranking public official and lives in the city is prevented from helping her by his wife. She earns a living by selling lunch packets at the village fair. As demand grows she opens a café and eventually becomes the owner of a catering business in the city.
eanwhile, her daughter who has entered university returns to the village on graduation to serve its people as a teacher although she has many better opportunities. A romance develops between her and her cousin despite the objections of his mother. The story has many unexpected twists.
The cast includes Jayani Senanayake, SarangaDisasekara, ThisuriYuwanika, NiroshanWijesinghe, Maureen Charuni, AnjulaRajapakse, Prasannajith Abeysuriya, GaminiHettiaratchchi, Leonie Kotalawela, Ananda Athukorale, Lakshika Fonseka and AchalaWalpola among others. The title song is sung by Visharada Nanda Malini and lyrics penned by Prof. Sunil Ariyaratne.
