Record breaking Japanese ‘Tora San’ here
View(s):“Tora San” record breaking Japanese telefilm series which holds the record of the longest running tele film series in the world is now being telecast from 4 pm to 6 pm on every Sunday on ITN channel.
“Tora San” is regarded by the Japanese people as a national and cultural asset. The producer of this series commenced its run on FUJI TV in Japan intending to go on air as a tele film series of 50 episodes for just one year. At the end of the 50th episode the writer and the director of the tele film series finished it off by putting the actor playing the lead role into an accidental death in the film.
But, due to the countrywide uproar by the tele film audiences against the death of the actor, the director was forced to bring the actor back to life. Accordingly, they restarted the production to continue its run uninterruptedly.
“Tora San” is rewarded in the Guinness World Record Book as the longest running tele film series in the world. The name of the actor playing in the lead role is “Ka Karo”. But in the film he used the name “Athsum Kiyosu” to which became world famous. With the death of this actor in 1969 they stopped the film production without replacing a new actor in his place.
“Tora San” is a role model of Japanese culture which kindled the name of Japan all over the world. Its popularity remains the same even today.
