Fair First Insurance emerge Champions
The experience of Roshan Randima and the court-craft of Isuru Perera gave Fair First Insurance (FFI) (formally Union Assurance General) a thrilling 9/7 win over DFCC Bank (DFCC) ‘B’ in the Men’s Gold Category Final at the 2nd edition of theMercantile Services Basketball Association (MSBA) – Dialog Axiata 3×3 Basketball Championships 2017, at the Sir Edward Henry Pedris floodlit courts last Friday.
The tournament was a resounding success with 43 teams participating viz, 36 Men’s teams in 3 categories and 7 Women’s teams in 2 categorie. The Preliminary round matches too were concluded at the same venue.
Sri Lanka has qualified for the FIBA 3×3 World Championships 2017 to be held in Nantes, France later this year.
MSBA Senior VP, Rimaz Hassan and General Secretary, Mafaz Mohideen liaised closely with the SLBF to ensure a slot for the country at this World Championships.
Awards were presented by MSBA office bearers, Brawin Fernando (President), Rimaz Hassan (Snr. VP), Mafaz Mohideen (Secretary General) and Maharam Bandara (Treasurer). Â Â Â - LR
